Tenbury Badminton - Proposed New Club Shirts

Design for new TBC shirts.

These are the proposed new club shirts. They're £5.99 ea. from Decathlon. The embroidery will be on top of this price but if we get 10x names then we can get a batch of these created - ideally locally. This way around the whole shirt shouldn't come to more than about £10ea. completed.

These shirts are designed specially for racket sports (tennis and/or badminton) and act as a 'wicking' layer when in play which also helps with cooling. If not this (this is the men's version) then there are other similar products for ladies at: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/artengo-100w-polo-shirt-id_8096783.html

If we can get 10x people's names together (with size prefs) then we'll arrange for the purchase of the various shirts shortly after that time.

Have a Free Night of Badminton On Us..

It's true! We're offering up 1x free trial night of badminton per person* on either our tuesday or friday club nights between 7 and 9pm.. If you've been an armchair olympian recently then this is your chance to try-out a growing global sport - albeit locally.

If interested then all you need do is turn up at Tenbury High School's sports hall.. All we ask is that you make sure that you wear non-marking trainers and clothes to run around in.. Ideally you should also have a basic badminton racket too but we may be able to negociate the use of one of those at the school on the one occasion (this to be confirmed).

Please note: If you're under 16 then you'll need to be accompanied by a verified adult, parent or guardian on any occasions that you play at the club - this adult is then responsible for your time with us and your safety.

* This offer doesn't apply to existing club members and can only be used once per person trying an evening's play.

Badminton Goes Boating..

A mixed canoeing group made up of some of the club's members.
Some of the club's members including Simon Prior, John Shaw, Andrea and David Jackman and Andy Stevenson took to the River Wye this recent bank holiday weekend in Canadian Canoes.

The outing was part of an annual event organised by Ali and Andy Stevenson in which friends and relatives canoe the river for a day. Many of the group camp alongside the event for one or more nights too and this year we managed a dramatic improvement by moving on from Aussie Barbara's down at heel 'Hollybush Pub' site and moved to the lovely Lower Porthamel Farm nearer Talgarth.

It was a great weekend and the canoeing day on Sunday 26th held out sun-wise too (to everyone's amazement!).. Well done all and thanks for helping us make it a great day on the water..

About us

We're an informal group of players who meet up a couple of times a week to play both for fun and sometimes competitively. We play tuesday & friday evenings 7-9pm weekdays in term-time based in Tenbury High School's sports hall. We've a wide range of abilities and ages (approx 10 yrs upwards if accompanied by an adult) who come along as regular players.

We're always willing to welcome new players and can offer basic level 1 badminton coaching to those who request it. We operate a 'try it and see' policy for new players where they get 1x 'free' trial evening and they can then pay nightly costs as and when they wish or come along or join us as a member and pay fees (a lowered nightly charge exists for the latter).

We also try and get out as an informal social group from time to time. Friday evenings sometimes end up discussing the evening's play at the nearby excellent 'Pembroke' public house in Tenbury!
